Kaur Foundation Hosts Dr. Nikky Guninder Kaur Singh at the Library of Congress
The Kaur Foundation was thrilled to host acclaimed Sikh scholar Dr. Nikky Guninder Kaur Singh at the Library of Congress on May 8, 2009.
Dr. Guninder Kaur Singh, a professor of religious studies at Colby College, presented a one-hour lecture and discussion on the topic of "The Feminine Principle in the Sikh Vision," based on her work The Feminine Principle in the Sikh Vision of the Transcendent.
Turnout for the event was fantastic and there was a rousing discussion afterwards. Nikky met with her fans and was gracious to pose for some photos.
Biography
Dr. Nikky Guninder Kaur Singh was born in India and came to Stuart Hall, a girl’s preparatory school in Virginia. Her interests focus on poetics and feminist issues. She has published extensively in the field of Sikhism. Her views have also been aired on television and radio, in America, Canada, England, India and Australia.
A dynamic and renowned speaker, her areas of expertise include Sikhism, the role of women in religious literature, literary analysis of scripture and religious themes in western literature, and Indian women’s issue.
