KF Events

We work with communities to create opportunities for students, families, and educators to learn about Sikh beliefs and culture and to promote intercultural understanding.

Professional Development Workshops:
We can provide experts able to bring increased knowledge and understanding about Sikhs to your school community. All workshops are tailored to meet the needs of your teachers and staff. Contact us to learn more.

Classroom Guest Speakers:  Are you already teaching about Sikhs and want to enrich your curriculum? Kaur Foundation volunteers can come to speak to your class and bring a first-hand perspective. All volunteers are trained to follow current best practices and First Amendment guidelines for talking about religion in public schools. Contact us to learn more.

Kaur Foundation staff and volunteers regularly presents at the National Council for the Social Studies Annual Meeting and the meetings of regional Councils for the Social Studies. At NCSS, KF has hosted opportunities for attendees to participate in Langar, turban tying, and workshops on classroom resources.

Educators were immersed into the Sikh practice of equality and service by sitting on the floor together and being served Langar, a vegetarian meal from the community kitchen, by Navsher Singh.
Attendees received a personally signed copy of Linda’s book that was sponsored by KF.

Yucaipa High School Seminar 2019 

Kaur Foundation occasionally organizes public events to foster inclusion and recognition of the Sikh community. These events are opportunities to raise awareness about the importance of cultural and religious literacy education and increase access to KF's educational resources. 

New Jersey Community Recognizing Vaisakhi April 2019

National Sikh Conference at the Library of Congress, 2009

Kaur Foundation sponsored a two-day conference at the Library of Congress, June 18-19, 2009. The event included panel discussion, film screenings, and photo exhibits, centered on celebrating the addition of over 80 Sikh works to the library's collection.
