Meet The KF Board

PRESIDENT

  • Reshma Singh currently serves as Program Director at the Lawrence Berkeley National Lab, where she is committed to equitable access to wellness and justice in our world. She brings over ten years of experience advancing cleantech innovation at the intersection of design, technology, and international development. Reshma enjoys mentoring in STEM and is on the Advisory Council for the international TechWomen program. She is a recipient of Harvard University’s Community Service Fellowship award. She has taught graduate seminars at Harvard and the University of California, Berkeley. Reshma strongly believes in the values of oneness and service to humanity that are grounded in the Sikh tradition, to be the guiding compass of her life. She is the creative director of Kaur Foundation’s Youth Voices.

  • Guninder Kaur is currently Director, Bureau Operations in the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. She holds a Master’s in Business Administration degree from the University of California, Irvine and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of California, Irvine.

    She has two kids in college and a supportive husband, Jagjit Singh, who volunteers as a Reserve Deputy Sheriff in the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Guninder believes that education is the key to bringing about positive social change.

SECRETARY

  • Lubeena Bindra is a Business Analyst by profession with many years of experience in the IT field. She is based in Houston and believes deeply in the power of education to create social change.

    ​She is the mother of two young boys and through their experiences has witnessed the positive impact of cultural literacy education in the classroom.

POLICY AND STRATEGIC INITIATIVES DIRECTOR

  • Mirin Phool is a co-founder of Kaur Foundation & drives the vision behind Kaur Foundation. She is passionate about civil rights and creating inclusive and safe educational environments for all students. She has helped design and develop engaging educational tools for classroom learning, delivered through school curriculum, that promote a better understanding of America’s diverse communities.

REGIONAL REPRESENTATIVE 

  • Kamalpreet is a parent with a motive, to inform our educators about a culture, that focuses on equality and justice for all. She started her journey to make teachers and student aware of Sikhism at her son’s school, but soon will be covering all the schools in her county.

COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR

  • Jessi Kaur taught English Literature at a Delhi University college before moving to California where she is a Human Resources Consultant for high-tech companies in the Silicon Valley. She is the founder of IGS NOW a non-profit spiritual organization that is committed to working in and towards global synergy, on the board of Kaur Foundation. She is serving her second term as a Fine Arts Commissioner for the city of Cupertino, California.

REGIONAL DIRECTOR, ​MASSACHUSETTS

  • Jaspreet is an MBA with major in Finance and Economics and has over 15 years of corporate finance experience with various Organizations. She is currently working as a Finance Director for the State Transit System; based in Massachusetts.

    She believes that creating multicultural awareness in the classroom is very critical to the student’s success, it not only encourages acceptance but also helps prepare them to thrive in the diverse world.

VICE PRESIDENT

  • Jessie Floura earned her Bachelor’s degree in mathematics and business from the University of Toronto. She has worked in the fields of project management and training with consulting firms. Jessie currently manages a team of 25 technical specialists at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, Maryland. She is passionate about ensuring teachers are prepared to handle today’s diverse classrooms.

​NORTHERN CALIFORNIA

  • Ashmeet Sahni currently serves as the K-12 Integration Specialist at the Pleasanton Unified School District, where she is committed to bringing equitable, culturally responsive, and rigorous curriculum and instruction to all students. Ashmeet brings in over ten years of experience as a high school Chemistry Educator and a STEM Instructional Coach.

    She is a mother to two young children and started her journey to make teachers and students aware of Sikhism at her son’s elementary school and since has witnessed the positive impact of culturally relevant pedagogy in the classroom. She strongly believes that authentic learning of their own culture and identity helps students to uphold their cultural identities and supports students’ intellectual growth and moral development.

CHAIRPERSON

  • Sherry McIntyre has been teaching world religions at Johansen High School in Modesto, California from its inception 20 years ago. Modesto City Schools is the first and only public school district in the nation to require the study of world religions to graduate. Sherry is a member of the board of the Stanislaus County Interfaith Council as well as the Teacher Advisory Board for the Kaur Foundation. She has been featured in numerous news stories, magazine articles and books including Teaching about Religion (Emile Lester) and Faith Ed (Linda K. Wertheimer.)

  • Dr. Kate E. Soules is an education researcher and curriculum developer specializing in religious literacy and teacher education. She recently completed a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction at the Boston College Lynch School of Education and Human Development. Her most recent research focused on the impacts of professional development courses on public school teachers’ understanding of religious diversity. She is a 2019-2020 recipient of the Religious Literacy Fellowship from the Foundation for Religious Literacy. Kate has worked with the Kaur Foundation as a curriculum and professional development specialist since 2018.

  • Caryn McTighe Musil has had a distinguished career as a professor, non-profit executive, educational consultant, writer, and public speaker. Dr. Musil began at the Association of American Colleges and Universities (AAC&U) in 1991 and is currently Senior Scholar and Director of Civic Learning and Democracy Initiatives after having served as Senior Vice President of the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Global Initiatives for fourteen years. For the past three decades, she has been writing, speaking, and directing national projects about democracy, diversity, equity, and inclusion.

  • Linda K. Wertheimer, a former Boston Globe education editor, is the award-winning author of Faith Ed, Teaching About Religion In An Age of

    Intolerance. She gives talks and workshops on teaching about religion and the experiences of religious minorities around the US and has been interviewed on CNN and CBS TV programs as well as NPR radio shows. She was a 2017 prose writer-in-residence at the Chautauqua Writers’ Center. Her long-form journalism, op-eds and essays have appeared in many publications, including The Washington Post, The New York Times, The Boston Globe Magazine, The Atlantic, and Lilith.

CHANGE MANAGEMENT ANALYST

  • Navsher Singh is a recent graduate from the California State University of Fullerton with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration. He believes that anyone can achieve anything as long there is a clear goal and willpower. Being able to experience the reality of being an immigrant with a very visible identity, Navsher believes having an open and positive dialogue between different communities is the key for a culturally literate society.

TECHNOLOGY ANALYST

  • Jasmeet Singh Babra works as a data engineer at Snapchat. He earned his masters in Data Analytics from California State University, Fullerton. He advocates for people of color in the Tech industry. Jasmeet also advocates spreading awareness about Sikhism, specially using technology and educate people about our culture wherever possible. When he is not working, he likes to travel and be at the beach.

Meet Our Fellows

COMMUNICATIONS & OUTREACH FELLOW

  • Harsirat is a Masters in Communication student at Saint Louis University, who is passionate about all things communications, public relations, writing, creating, and representing. Being a Fellow at Kaur Foundation, Harsirat offers her expertise in planning & editing and renders her communication skills for the ethical representation of Sikhs. She is also working with Kaur Foundation for her applied masters project on bringing light to the experiences of Sikhs in the US, which will be out in the community by May 2023. When she is not studying and creating, she is busy reading, because literature is her true love and can be seen out in nature hiking and running. Education is a cause she has always believed in because of her parents. At SLU, she teaches Public Speaking to undergraduates. She is always open to projects where she can offer her love for communication and visual, audio, and written creation.
